During the life of the Heritage Action Zone project Remembering the Past’s photographer, Ernest Storey, has been keeping a visual record of progress while other members of the team collected memories and stories. Here are just a few from his collection.
Ernest is a familiar figure in North Shields, Tynemouth and, most recently, the Fish Quay and over the years he has created a wonderful record of the changes that have been made to the area.
Ernest loves to find an unusual angle from which to take a photo, as you’ll see in the Northumberland Place image, taken from the rooftop of the YMCA. He also had great fun photographing the emergence of the old tramlines in Howard Street.
