Passengers were pushed onto the trains, dripping wet.
There were two reservoirs between North Shields and Percy Main. Sometimes, when it rained very heavily, the rail track flooded there, and the trains were stopped at Tynemouth until the water level dropped. Passengers at other stations were pushed onto the trains, dripping wet, to disperse the accumulation of travellers.
