Kitty Brightwell remembers her time in the WAAF

 

Kitty Brightwell was born in Newcastle in 1922.

She has lived on Tyneside all of her life apart from 4 years when she served in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) during the Second World War. Kitty did her war service in the Battle of Britain Operations Room, stationed at 11 Group RAF in Uxbridge, Middlesex.

In this recording, Kitty remembers her time at Uxbridge.
