The Catch

It looked like a peaceful day
Not a cloud in the whole sky
So when the fishing boats came into port
Everyone started to wonder why

It did not take much longer to see
As the wind started to blowing quite mild
But the more fishing boats would arrive
Should have told us it is about to get wild

A few hours had now ticked by
The wind has started to really rage
The number of fishing boats coming in the river
Would easily fill a newspaper page

The river is now nearly full to the brim
Fishing boats here and at every quay
Right from North Shields to Newcastle
They are fighting for a berthing place you see

When mother nature gets angry
At sea you do not want to be caught
When the winds blow as hard as they can
It is good to be close to a port

A couple of days have gone by
Things are quieting down at last
The winds came in with a vengeance
God bless today they have now past

Boats had come in from Denmark
Some from Norway as well
Also Holland and Germany
Some even from Poland we could tell

Such a fishing fleet has never come back
So many boats have never been seen
But with only one day of calmness
You would think they had never been
