Games and Entertainment in Forest Hall (1980s)

We fed them and befriended them, gave them a football to kick around on the lawn.

Bingo in the Ritz Cinema.  Bowls and tennis in the park.  Then barbeques in Springfield Park Community Centre and various sports – Tai Chi, karate and car boot sales.  The strawberry fields on Lamb Farm, Ord’s Garden and greenhouse flowers – Willowdene Nurseries.  Women’s darts teams in the Coach & Horses (Clousden Hill pub), dancing in the Legion and Conservative Clubs.  Coffee mornings at the Free Church and other groups – guides, brownies and scouts.

In the ’80s, Age Concern sent helpers to all older people – to paint and decorate and do house and garden repairs.  It kept them busy, taught them to care about old people and we fed them and befriended them, gave them a football to kick around on the lawn.
